Mastodon! Please lend me your wisdom. What are your strategies for increasing the diversity of speakers at a community-organised event without being tokenistic?

Ideally, I would do this by expanding the community itself, of course. But it's a chicken and egg situation: if all our events feature mostly or exclusively white guys, the community doesn't look very welcoming to anyone else.

Ideas, as well as suggestions for reading, are very, very welcome.
