My mother went to Europe on holiday at some point in the late sixties, and Geneva was one of the cities she visited. She asked her dad (my grandfather) for advice on what to get for her brother as a gift. He described in some detail the watch she should get him, right off the top of his head. When she was buying the watch for her brother, she thought back to that conversation and decided to buy two of them—one for her brother, and one for her dad. My uncle still wears his, and my grandfather's has been mine since he passed in the 80s.
I don't know what he would make of having a queer, trans granddaughter, but I think he would be happy his watch is still getting worn.
