B! A! Y! Bay FC!

Eryn, Laurel, Andy, and I took the girls to see Bay FC play the San Diego Wave on . Eryn and I had had so much fun at the home opener against Houston in March, we were excited to take the girls to their first NWSL match and, at least in EJ’s case, her first live sporting event of any kind.

We took Caltrain to the game, which was delayed somewhat due to some single-tracking on the peninsula. A round of beer on the train helped with that.

Between waiting in line at concession stands for food, taking EJ to the loo multiple times, taking breaks from the noise of the stadium with her, and having to leave early to catch our train back to SF, I didn’t actually end up seeing much of the game. The bits I watched were fun, though, and we were able to catch the last goal on the jumbotron just after leaving.

The girls enjoyed getting to stay up way past their bedtimes. I think EJ enjoyed the match itself, despite the sensory overload. I caught her randomly breaking out into B! A! Y! Bay FC! chants for days afterwards.

Heading to the match with Laurel & Andy in May.
Four adults sit facing each other on a train. Everyone is smiling. The man on the left is in a San Francisco Giants hat and a black hoodie. Next to him, a woman with long hair sits next to the window. Across from her, a woman with glasses is also wearing a black hoodie. And to her right, a smiling woman is wearing a San Diego Wave jersey.
I had split loyalties that day.
A selfie of a woman. She’s wearing a navy blue Bay FC hat and a white San Diego Wave jersey. She has severe strabismus.
