Backfilling and backdating your way to the indie web

Via Karl, Simon’s Backfill your blog:

There's no rule that says you can't create a new blog today and backfill (and backdate) it with your writing from other platforms or sources, even going back many years.

I’ve been doing this here for ages. I’ve imported thousands of posts from elsewhere, and I’ve also written new, backdated posts where I hadn’t already captured something on my site.

Maybe pulling stuff in that you first posted elsewhere doesn’t quite meet the ideal, but owning your data’s got to start somewhere. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. It’s your shit. Get it up on your own site.
