By now you’ve probably seen the news. If not, here are a couple of articles that cover the basics:
- Supreme Court Upholds Tennessee Ban on Transgender Care for Minors, by Adam Liptak.
- SCOTUS upholds Tennessee’s ban on trans minors’ gender-affirming medical care, by Chris Geidner.
For deeper dives, try these two:
- SCOTUS Allows For Trans Discrimination In Medical Care: A Full Analysis Of Today’s Ruling, by Erin Reed.
- What the Supreme Court’s Gender-Affirming Care Decision Means For You: Everything We Know About How Skrmetti Will Impact Your Healthcare, by Brittney McNamara.
The thing is, though, I can’t stop thinking about all of the dead kids we’re gonna have in this fucking shitshow of a country
Look, when we say that “gender-affirming care saves lives,” we mean it quite literally. Denying such care is certain to lead to the entirely avoidable deaths of a whole bunch of queer and trans kids. And, frankly, it’s hard to entertain the idea that that’s not exactly what the right wants to happen, especially when they go do this shit on the same fucking day:
Trump Orders Closure Of Suicide Hotline Service For LGBTQ+ Youth, by Kayley Cassidy.
Maybe I’ll find myself with a more nuanced take when I’ve had a chance to asborb the news. Maybe I’ll find some solace in the fact that most of us will survive (Drew Burnett Gregory). But not now, not today. I’m too fucking angry. I’m too fucking sad.
If you voted for this, their blood will be on your hands, too.
