I suspect that there are mathematicians out there even now who are getting grants to invent symbols which are not in unicode. Other mathematicians are busy working out the transfinite arithmetic of mathematical notation, thus proving that not only is no finite coding adequate for the needs of your every day working mathematician, but in fact no countable coding is adequate.
