The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month

In most of the rest of the English-speaking world, today is a day for remembering our war dead, on the anniversary of the Armistice which ended World War I. The US already had one of those, dating from her Civil War, so hereabouts this day is set aside for our veterans, both living and dead.
