Even if you participate in activities like indoor dining, it's still important to wear a mask some of the time. Reducing reinfections decreases your risk of developing Long COVID, and wearing a mask on public transport and in healthcare settings protects higher risk people who need to access essential services.

I really don't get why people have a problem with new Star Trek looking different to old Star Trek. Like, I see it as similar to how a new videogame sequel might have a different level of graphical technology than a previous game in its canon, or how comic books pass through different artists and visual styles. You can just let go of the visual differences, and account for them just being an artifact of the time the story was told in. Like, do people really want SNW to look like TOS?

A few #ValenciaStreet merchants still have those anti-bike-lane signs in their store windows, so I designed an updated version they could use instead. Rather than blaming bike lanes, it would be nice to see #SanFrancisco merchants support the https://bettervalencia.com/ plan. Safer streets drive higher foot traffic and more repeat sales. Plus, we all know that SAFER STREETS SAVE LIVES, so why do we have to frame this as an economic issue in the first place?

So much Covid in my feed again today. I've been thinking about the 😬 "Learn to live with Covid" public health messaging again. It could have meant "Learn to live with masking, frequent vaccination updates, virtual & outdoor events, and new ventilation requirements for indoors." Instead, the vast majority chose "Learn to live with everyone getting sick all the time, and some people not getting better, causing a lower life expectancy and 1% of the population becoming disabled each year."

This is an extremely disappointing piece. "Some [bike lane users] feel it's not safe enough" is a mischaracterization. Many of us feel it's less safe than what was there before. In addition, limiting choices to status quo, returning to unprotected bike lanes, or protected curb lanes is extremely blinkered thinking. There's no reason Valencia has to be a 2 way street for cars, and no reason it has to be open to cars 24 hours a day.
Valencia Street businesses say the new design isn’t working for them. Bikers say the street is still not safe enough. SFMTA director weighs in on Valencia bike lanes
