Edinburgh

The W3C’s Technical Architecture Group (the TAG) met at the Informatics Forum of the University of Edinburgh. Former TAG participant Henry Thompson is a professor at the university and graciously hosted us; Amy handled the logistics and planning.

The meeting

My third and last term on the TAG ends in a couple months; this was my last F2F. (Or was it???) I’m gonna miss it—the work, sure, but especially the people. I’m very grateful to the W3C community for trusting me with a TAG seat for the past six years. It’s been an honor and a pleasure.

The city

Arthur’s Seat
A large, brown-and-green hill looms over the tops of buildings. The sky above the hill is blue. Not much is visible of the buildings besides roofs and chimneys.

I’d been to Edinburgh twice before: once in 2007 with Erin and Kathleen, and again in 2009 with Erin, Lindsay, and Paul. A lot can change in 15 years, but Edinburgh is timeless.

We had amazing food the entire week; many thanks to Amy for picking out all the restaurants and pubs.

The people

I got to meet up with foldleft for a pint at The Regent while I was in town, which was lovely. We’d last seen each other in Shinjuku in 2019.
