The Journal has published a scathing three-part series by investigative journalist Conor O‘Carroll on the abominable state of gender-affirming healthcare in Ireland.

  1. ‘It left me traumatised’: The barriers to accessing trans healthcare in Ireland
  2. Trans people turning to DIY-healthcare due to lack of trust in NGS
  3. Trans people moving to Ireland put on long waitlist for vital healthcare until assessed

As a trans person making contingency plans because of the increasingly dire political situation in America—and as someone raised on songs and stories as a child of the Irish diaspora—this is incredibly disheartening. There’s a lot going for Ireland as a possible destination. But it’s hard to even consider it if going there would seriously risk my continued access to gender-affirming care.
