Jessica has Golden State Valkyries season tickets and invited me along for their Juneteenth match against Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever. We had a blast! What a great game!
Team | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Final |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Indiana | 21 | 23 | 15 | 18 | 77 |
Golden State | 12 | 26 | 17 | 33 | 88 |
My expectation going into the match was that Indiana would win handily, but that’s not at all how it went down. The Valkyries staged an impressive comeback after a lackluster first that culminated in an electric fourth quarter. They effectively contained Clark, who didn’t sink a single three-pointer all night.

This was my first visit to the Chase Center and my first WNBA game. The Chase Center is really nice. Jessica’s seats are on the club level; we had a great view despite being in the corner.
I made sure to research the most important aspect of the league before going, of course. As you do. Speaking of which, Eryn, Jessica, and I went to Rikki’s, the Castro’s new women’s sports bar, for a pint before the game. We caught the Mercury v. Liberty match while there, and we ran into Blithe from 49 Crowns (our watch club).
