Years in review: 2023–2024–2025
So far, 2025 has included (among other things):
- I bought an e-bike and started to take EJ to school on it in January.
- I popped over to London that month to host the W3C Technical Architecture Group (TAG).
- In February Eryn and I went to Arizona on a skiing trip with a bunch of her high school friends.
- Also in February, I realized something everyone else had realized ages ago, and I tried to get back into chess. It didn’t stick.
- I went to my three Bay FC matches: one each in March, May, and September.
- Also in March, my mom met the Taoiseach just a few days before he resigned. What could she have said to him that brought that about‽‽‽‽ We may never know.
- We celebrated Erin’s half birthday in style.
- W3C’s Advisory Committee meets twice a year. Our spring 2024 session was in Hiroshima. It was my first visit. Bryan tagged along and we bummed around Tokyo afterwards.
- I’ve apparently been blogging for twenty five years.
- Later that month EJ, Eryn, and I flew to Buffalo to see my mom receive the Irish Echo’s 2024 Hero of Irish America award.
- Erin finished first grade and had a very fun summer bouncing between a bunch of different camps.
- I started wearing some old David Ortiz merch of mine again for some reason.
- The W3C’s Advisory Board, Board of Directors, and TAG met in Seattle in July. We got to see some sorely-missed colleagues while there.
- Speaking of the Board of Directors, I ran for it this year, and lost.
- Eryn and I took EJ to Hawaiʻi in August. We spent several days on Oʻahu and the rest of the trip on the big island.
- I turned 45 a few days after we got back.
- TPAC was in Anaheim in September.
- Eryn and I went to Chicago in October for a wedding, and a couple of weeks later we went out West.
- EJ was a zombie crossing guard for Halloween.
- TFG got elected, again, and I recommitted myself to the work.
- I went home for Thanksgiving as a surprise.
- I spent the first week of December in Edinburgh for a TAG meeting, and the second in NYC for Ecma’s GA, at which I got elected to the ExeCom.
- Eryn, EJ, and I went home to Massachusetts for Christmas.
